Central Wisconsin Select

Central Wisconsin Select (CWS) is a regional lacrosse program operated through Stevens Point Area Lacrosse, created to bring together athletes from across central Wisconsin for advanced development and competitive play. Founded in 2012, the program serves players from Stevens Point, Mosinee, Marshfield, Waupaca, Wisconsin Rapids, and Wausau, providing opportunities that may not be available within a single community program.

The mission of Central Wisconsin Select is to foster player development by allowing athletes from different areas to train and compete together. By combining players from multiple communities, the program exposes athletes to higher levels of competition, diverse playing styles, and stronger team environments, all while emphasizing skill growth, teamwork, and preparation for future levels of lacrosse.

Central Wisconsin Select offers teams for boys and girls at multiple age levels, including 14U, as well as high school–level select teams. The teams typically participate in an extended summer season, running from early June through the end of July.

A key focus of the program is accessibility. Central Wisconsin Select aims to provide a high‑quality, extended lacrosse experience without the high costs often associated with elite club or travel teams in Wisconsin. This approach allows more athletes in the region to continue developing and competing at a higher level while remaining connected to their local programs.

Teams compete in tournaments and events throughout the Midwest, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and occasionally neighboring states. These events give players valuable exposure to different levels of competition and game environments, further supporting long‑term player growth and confidence.

Overall, Central Wisconsin Select is designed to support player development, regional collaboration, and affordable access to competitive lacrosse, helping athletes grow their skills and prepare for the next stage of their lacrosse journey.

Ages

Age group placement follows **USA Lacrosse age and eligibility guidelines**. The 14U team is open to players who are **14 years old or younger as of the USA Lacrosse age cutoff date**. Players who exceed 14U eligibility may participate at the **high school select level**, with opportunities available through their graduating year.

Practice Info

Practice will begin the week of 6/13. Tentative schedule - will be 6pm-8pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Practice will occur in Stevens Point at Goerke Park, Wausau option being considered
