CWS Newsletter Update 5.26.2026

Central Wisconsin Select Updates

Welcome to the CWS Summer 2026 Season!

We are officially gearing up for the summer, with practices starting on June 8! Early registration numbers are looking fantastic—thank you for the incredible response so far.

  • Please Register Early: If you are able, please complete your registration soon. Tournament entries require substantial upfront commitments from the club, and early headcounts make logistics much smoother for our staff.
  • System Transition: We are currently bridging communications between our old platform and Crossbar. We opted for a fresh start rather than importing old data to guarantee everything is accurate this season.
  • Calling All 2026 Graduates: May 2026 high school graduates are eligible to play this summer! Pass the word along to any recent grads who want to stay in the game.

Summer 2026 Registration & Pricing Update

The registration fee for full summer participation is now $480 across both programs.
⚠️ Important Roster Policy: Any player participating in one or more tournaments must be paid in advance before they can be added to the official tournament roster. Tracking down outstanding payments takes considerable time and effort from our volunteers, so we greatly appreciate your promptness! If you need to arrange a payment plan, please reach out to Scott Winn, a coach, or any board member to discuss options.
Registration Credits for High School Players
If you have already paid the previous registration amount, a credit for the difference will automatically be applied to your Crossbar account. You can use this credit toward your jersey purchase or helmet rental fees, or you may request a full refund of the difference.
New Flexible Participation Options
We are pleased to offer more flexibility for our players this summer:
  • Full Season ($480): Covers all practices and all three scheduled tournaments.
  • Practice-Only Option ($100): For players who want to participate in the full season of summer practices but will not be playing in any tournaments. This fee must be paid prior to the first practice on June 8.
  • Single-Tournament Option ($250): For players who cannot commit to the full season but want to join us for one specific tournament. Payment must be completed before the player is rostered.
  • Note: Single-tournament players will need to arrange to borrow a jersey from another player or rent a program jersey (cost TBD).
Budget Tip: We have priced these options so that if a player plans to participate in two or more tournaments, the Full Season ($480) package is the most cost-effective choice. Please make sure to indicate which tournaments you will be attending during the registration process.

Multi-Player Discount
We are pleased to offer a multi-player discount for families with multiple athletes in our programs. Please email Scott Winn to receive your discount code before completing registration.

Jersey Requirements

Beginning in the 2026 season, all players will purchase a full uniform package for $125. This set includes a reversible jersey, a shooter shirt, and shorts. Because these uniforms are yours to keep, they can be used for multiple seasons without the need for a new purchase.

Sizing & Numbers Jerseys have been purchased in bulk. During equipment handouts, coaches and CWS staff will assist with sizing and do our best to match players with their preferred jersey numbers whenever possible.

Customization & Resale

  • Name Customization: After jerseys are distributed, families may choose to have the player's name added for an additional fee (details on this option are still pending).
  • Resale Option: At the end of the season, families have the option to resell their uniform to a future player for the following year.

HELMET RENTAL

Helmet Requirements & Rentals Players have the option to rent a program helmet for $50 (availability of decals varies).

Safety Standards All lacrosse helmets must be NOCSAE Certified to meet safety standards. You can find more information on these regulations here.

Purchasing Advice

  • Color: If you are looking to purchase your own, we recommend choosing a black helmet.
  • Expert Guidance: We strongly encourage you to consult with a coach before buying any equipment—especially if purchasing second-hand—to ensure it meets current safety and program regulations.

Parent "Meeting"

Not really a meeting, rather a gather around and make sure questions can be answered, get to meet new and returning families. Our parent meeting (meet up) will occur on Tuesday June 9, the second day of practice. Our meeting will occur outside the field after we get equipment/jerseys handed out. This meeting will happen at 6:15 roughly, should not last more than 15 minutes.

CWS Tournament and Hotel Information

We are setting up a dedicated page for all tournament details and lodging. A huge thank you to Jamie Phillis for doing the legwork to secure our hotel blocks!

Coaches Are Ready to Connect

As we prepare for the upcoming season, our coaching staff is ready to begin outreach to players and families. We highly encourage early registration to ensure you are included in these initial team communications.

Transition to Crossbar Platform

Please note that we are adopting Crossbar as our primary communication tool this year. Families are required to download the Crossbar mobile application, which will serve as the central hub for:

  • Practice schedules and real-time updates
  • Weather-related modifications
  • Tournament logistics and arrival times
  • General team and club announcements

For step-by-step instructions on setting up your account, please visit our Crossbar User Resources directory.

A Note from Scott Winn

In closing, we have a fantastic core group keeping Central Wisconsin Select moving forward. However, several of our current leaders will be transitioning out of their roles in the near future as our own kids age out of the program.

CWS is an incredibly cost-effective program with an amazing coaching staff, but to keep it sustainable and ensure it remains the premier choice for regional lacrosse, we need fresh parent involvement. We are looking for volunteers to join the board in any capacity—big or small. Please reach out to any current board member or coach to chat about how you can help us secure the future of the program!

This update was put together by Scott Winn with a little assistance from Gemini! I don't claim to be a professional writer, so I'm always happy to have others jump in and help out!
