CWS Newsletter Update 6.28.2026

As we head into the final stretch of the season, please take a few minutes to review the updates below. Several items need timely responses so we can finalize plans, support our players, and keep the program moving smoothly.

1. Volunteer Needed: End-of-Season Potluck

We would like to host an end-of-season get-together on the evening of July 21, but we need one or more volunteers to help coordinate it. The location is still to be determined, and we are considering a spot midway between Stevens Point and Wausau.

Please take action: If you are willing to help with the location, food plan, or basic event details, please reply and let us know. The program may be able to cover a small cost for a park rental, pizza, or BBQ, while families can contribute potluck items, beverages, and other items to share. Without volunteer support, we will not be able to move forward with the event.

2. Reply Needed: CWS Fall Ball Interest

We are exploring a fall high school program that would participate in one or two tournaments. We understand that fall sports, homecoming, and other commitments may create conflicts, so we need to gauge player interest before making any plans.

Please take action: If your player is interested in fall ball, please reply as soon as possible. Your response will help us determine whether there is enough interest to move forward.

3. 12U Team Update

At this time, we do not have the numbers needed to move forward with a 12U team. We know there is interest, but many summer schedules are already set, which makes it difficult to pivot this late in the season.

Next step: 12U players are encouraged to stay connected with coaches and attend practice when available.

4. Complete Waivers: Good Land Lacrosse Tournament

Good Land Lacrosse Tournament waivers will be completed through League Apps. Families will need to log in and submit the waiver online once the email is sent.

Please take action: Watch for the waiver email and complete the League Apps waiver as soon as possible. Prompt completion helps keep tournament preparation on track for everyone.

5. Book Now: Rip the Wave Hotel Reminder

Rip the Wave will be here soon. If you have not booked a hotel yet, please do so as soon as possible. Hotel blocks may be released soon, so do not wait to secure accommodations.

6. Help Shape the Future of CWS

If you want to see CWS continue next year and beyond, please consider joining the stakeholder board. I will be stepping down as president as my kids age out of the program, but I am happy to keep helping behind the scenes. I know others are willing to support as well.

The stakeholder board is a collaborative group that meets remotely about once a month. The work is manageable, especially when shared among several people. Help is needed with things like the website, emails, registrations, tournament rosters, and other behind-the-scenes support. Every contribution helps keep the program strong.

Please take action: At the end-of-season gathering, we will make a focused push to identify the next group of stakeholders to help lead CWS forward. If you care about keeping this program going, please consider stepping in. Strength in numbers is what will keep CWS moving forward.

Thank you for taking the time to review these updates and respond where needed. Your help, communication, and timely action make a meaningful difference for our players, families, and coaches.

Thanks,

Scott Winn
