CWS Newsletter Update 6.22.2026

Hot off the press—your weekly update is here. While we may not have a Ms. Whistledown delivering the gossip, the latest buzz is that we currently have eight players signed up for the 12U team. Keep reading for updates on that effort, details about our upcoming tournaments, board news, and how we can support the Pulaski lacrosse community.

12U Team Interest – The Good Land Field Invitational:

There has been strong interest in forming a 12U team, and momentum is building. We have several coaches willing to help, including support from Wausau and CWS alumni. At this point, we have about eight players registered, with a goal of reaching closer to thirteen.

Please help spread the word and encourage additional players to join. If you know someone who may be interested, reach out—we may even have a fun incentive for players who help recruit.

The board meets on Wednesday to make the final decision. If we move forward, practices are expected to begin next Monday. Once the cost is finalized (not to exceed $150), additional details will be shared with registered families, including payment, equipment needs such as helmets, and other key information.

Key details for the 12U opportunity:

  • Intended for players with prior lacrosse experience
  • Players should have completed at least one spring season
  • Participants are encouraged to attend current weekly practices
  • Cost will be $150 per player
  • Equipment may be borrowed with a $40 refundable deposit
  • This is currently an interest-only sign-up; payment will be collected if the team is formed
  • No discounts apply for this event

Upcoming Board Meeting:

The Central Wisconsin Select board will meet this Wednesday via Google Meet. If you are interested in attending, please contact Scott Winn to be added to the invite. We are an informal, volunteer-led group and welcome anyone who would like to get involved.

As many current players age out, several board members will be stepping down, and we are actively looking for new volunteers to help guide the future of the program.

Topics for this week’s meeting include:

  • Current season updates and coach reports
  • Final decision on the 12U program
  • Tournament roster requirements and registration status
  • End-of-season planning
  • Fall CWS programming
  • Additional program updates

The Good Land Field Invitational:

Our next tournament takes place July 11–12 in the Milwaukee area. Hotel blocks are available but will expire soon, so please book promptly if you plan to use the team rate. Thank you to Jamie Phillis for securing these options for our families.

Tournament schedules, waivers, and additional details have not yet been released and are expected within the next week. Once received, information will be shared immediately.

If your player's availability has changed, please notify Scott. Accurate participation numbers are essential for roster planning, and in some cases we may need to supplement with players from other areas.

Paid Registration Update

If you paid in advance at the high school rate for all four tournaments and are expecting a credit, or if your player’s participation has changed, please contact Scott Winn so adjustments can be made.

There may still be a few items that need follow-up. As always, thank you for your patience—this is a volunteer-run program, and we appreciate your understanding. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Rip The Wave Tournament

Our final tournament of the season, Rip The Wave, will be held July 18–19 in Edwardsburg, Michigan, near South Bend, Indiana. This is a returning event for our program, and we are excited to participate again.

Hotel blocks are also available for this tournament and will expire soon, so early booking is encouraged.

Tournament details such as schedules and waivers will likely be released the week prior. Information will be shared with families as soon as it becomes available.

Please inform Scott if your player’s participation status changes so we can keep rosters accurate and support coaches in their planning.

End of Season Planning

While the season is still underway, it is already time to begin thinking about our end-of-season event. The board will be discussing options and organizing a celebration. If you have ideas or would like to help plan, we would love your involvement.

This season is especially meaningful for several families, including my own, as it marks the final year in the CWS youth program before players head off to college. As a result, it is more important than ever for new families to step forward and help sustain and grow the program.

Pulaski Strong

The Pulaski lacrosse community needs our support. The school district has decided not to continue both the boys’ and girls’ lacrosse programs next year. Having experienced the effort it takes to build a program, we understand the commitment and challenges involved. It is especially difficult to see a program cut so early, particularly with lacrosse continuing to grow and still relatively new as a Sanctioned sport.

Please consider visiting their Facebook pages to learn more and offer encouragement. A few supportive words or shared resources can make a meaningful difference during this time.

Thank you for your continued support of Central Wisconsin Select and the broader lacrosse community.
